This is tropical milkweed. The problem? The Monarch caterpillars ONLY eat off milkweed. The problem with tropical milkweed? It lasts and lasts and lasts, sometimes through mild winters, which means the butterflies lay their eggs too late here and don’t fly south early enough.
I know, because I’ve had them emerge when it’s too cold and they don’t survive. But I didn’t know there was another variety.
So I’ve been pulling up all my tropical milkweed, and I need to get a variety that isn’t tropical. Tropical, apparently, have multi-colored flowers like these. The other variety doesn’t. So I’m off on a search for a different milkweed to help sustain the monarchs.
In the meantime, I’ve got to get back to writing. I promised my granddaughter that I’d come and have lunch with her. She wants me to get the clown food, ie, Jack-in-the-Box chicken nuggets, but don’t forget the french fries. She reminded her mom not to pack her lunch for today. Last week was the first week we ate together. I loved it. She loved it.
When my kids went to public school, they didn’t have family visitation like this. It’s really nice.
AND we made some progress on reading!!!! I actually got one of the Dick and Jane books out for her and though the first few stories are super simple, those are words she needs to learn, so she was thrilled to finally be able read them, instead of just flash cards!!!

Elizabeth Simpson helped David escape, but the pack leader won’t let her go. It’ll take everything David and Elizabeth have to get out and make a new home…together.

As wolves, Isobel, her kin, and a Highland slave are on the run from her Icelandic clan and now they must find a way to live in peace in Scotia without anyone discovering they are wolves or Vikings. Wearing traditional Icelandic clothes, sailing a Viking longboat, and speaking Gaelic with a Nordic accent, it won’t be easy.
Alasdair is the wolf pack leader of his Highland clan, in the middle of adding fortifications to his castle when he spies what he thinks is a small Viking longboat—which can mean raiders and a fight. But what he discovers is two adult wolf females, a nearly grown male, and a female and male bairn on their shores. He can’t imagine the family making the treacherous journey to his land all on their own, but he’s captivated by Isobel, the woman who led her people to what she hopes will be safety.
Not everyone in his pack welcomes having Vikings living among them though. And Isobel is a wild and unpredictable woman, which fascinates him all the more.
I just published the novella: A United Shifter Force Christmas that was in the anthology Shifters and Mistletoe. If you already purchased Shifters and Mistletoe, you have this one! Shifters and Mistletoe is no longer available.
Rowdy Sanderson, a special agent for the United Shifter Force, a group of jaguars and wolves who aid shifters in trouble and deal with those who are trouble, isn’t even one of them. But he wants to be a wolf in the worst way. When a special agent needs help at her USF branch in Ely, Minnesota, he volunteers because he’s the only one in Houston without a family for the holidays. Maybe he will still get his Christmas wish—to be a wolf shifter like some of his friends and coworkers so he will have their “superpowers” to do his job.
Justine Winters is grateful the director of the USF is sending a special agent to her branch in Ely to aid her if she gets swamped. He’s really hot, according to the photos the director sent her of Rowdy, but is he a wolf or a jaguar? Preferably a wolf. But then she learns he’s human! No one’s supposed to know that shifters exist. No way will he be able to sniff out shifters and assist her. She reluctantly agrees to accept him—figuring she’ll have to put him on desk duty.
All that changes when she meets the real man—who desperately wants to be a wolf, who grows on her just like the director said he would, who risks his life for shifters, who she defends to others of her kind for working with the USF. But being the one to bite him has consequences and nothing’s turning out the way she planned.
Another art challenge–to lift a design element from another artist’s work with lots of white space. So for mine, I did the sea and magic/fairies because I love all of them. It’s hard for me to leave a lot of white space, but it’s so pretty when I do.
Okay, I’m now off to feed the birds and make more magic by writing more on the story! I’m up to 57K! Hope to have 67K by Sunday!
Readers of Christine Feehan, Patricia Briggs, and Nalini Singh will love USA Today bestselling author Terry Spear’s thrilling, sexy paranormal shifter romance full of action, adventure, mystery, and passion.

No one should have been in her room, and now she suspected the key-card noise she’d heard just minutes earlier had been the real deal. Who the hell had a key to her room? Whoever it was didn’t say a word. The scary part was that even though he had to hear her showering, he ignored it, like he knew he was safe, that she couldn’t harm him. And that made her angry. And even more worried.
She quickly washed the soap out of her hair and off her face and body and left the water running. Her phone was sitting on the bedside table, so she couldn’t reach it to call the police. She didn’t have a weapon… Well, maybe not a gun or knife, but she did have a different kind of weapon. One she was born with. It would have to do.
She called on her wolf, heat rushing through every bone and through every muscle. Confronting a human like this wasn’t something wolves would normally do when they were taught to hide their identity at all costs from humans. But the intruder couldn’t see her shift and she was afraid—since he was bold enough to remain there when she was taking a shower—she could be in a world of hurt if she didn’t do something to protect herself.
As soon as she had turned into a big red wolf with big ears, big teeth, and big wolf paws, she pushed the shower curtain aside with her nose, leaped out of the tub, slid on the bath mat, and tore out of the bathroom and into the room. As soon as the man saw movement, turned, and noticed her coming at him, the would-be thief jumped straight into the air. He cried out with a strangled sound and made a dash for the door.
That was what she liked to see. Him scared to pieces and running for his life. Though her own heart was beating triple time, the adrenaline surging through her blood preparing her to flee or fight. Fighting was more what she had in mind.
Imagine him thinking he was robbing a defenseless human but suddenly was faced with a snarling wolf!
Time to howl! Or, just read the book.
I’m off to feed the dogs and the birds and work on the current story. 31,000 words and counting. Hope to get to 33K today on the next in the Wolff Sisters’ first book–Kayla’s story.
